Freezing soy products?

Looking for a quick easy dinner tonight I pulled some plant based goujons from the freezer (DP is vegan, I'm not but happily eat plant based with him) only to realise that they weren't suitable for freezing in the first place.

Thankfully we had another box in there, same brand, definitely freezer safe, now in the oven.

The only difference I can find is that one contains soy protein and the other doesn't.

Is there a reason we shouldn't be freezing and thawing soy protein? Excuse my naivety if it's an obvious answer, DP is the chef 99% of the time and I'm not up to speed with the storage and prep of plant based processed foods!

Thanks in advance x

The vast majority of plant based foods are absolutely fine frozen, even if the packet says otherwise. More often than not the "Don't freeze" advice is just a potential texture issue as sometimes freezing changes the texture when it's then cooked. In some cases, like with Tofu, freezing first tends to improve texture Grin

Thank you! Good thing I chucked them back in the freezer while I came online to find answers then Wink
