Milk for cereal

What do you use? I'm veggie but thinking about gradually switching dairy for non dairy.
I've tried oatly (regular) that was fine. I don't like alpro - I find it too sweet.
I am after some recommendations as I don't want to spend out on something if I don't like it
What milks do you use for various things? In also a big tea drinker (I hear oatly barista is the way to go here).

Any faves, dislikes, what works well etc?

Tia

Tesco or Aldi soya, less sweet than Alpro.

I like almond on cereal. Or rice in porridge. I try and avoid soy in these because it is quite strong tasting and I think I probably already get plenty of soy in my coffees!

It annoys me that they only come in large cartons, always go off before I use a whole one.

Slippersandacuppa · 17/05/2019 08:20

Oatly barista - it’s delicious!! No soya taste and creamy. Lovely in coffee too!

Slippersandacuppa · 17/05/2019 08:21

Sorry, just read the end properly! Yes, it’s great on everything :)

If you like oat milk, that’s probably the best one to go for environmentally speaking.

kikisparks · 17/05/2019 08:23

Oatly is my favourite- I like barista, whole or semi skimmed. Regular oatly or alpro oat are ok and usually cheaper. If I’m out of oat I’ll put my husband’s unsweetened almond on cereal but only if it’s blue diamond or alpro, he sometimes gets asda’s own which I find gloopy and very almond tasting.

kikisparks · 17/05/2019 08:24

Oatly barista is best in tea but I’ll drink soya milk in tea if that’s what’s available.

NannyR · 17/05/2019 08:25

My favourite plant milk is the oatly semi one in the chiller cabinet (rather than the uht one). I don't like the barista version - personally I find it has a bit of a greasy aftertaste. I also really like the alpro unsweetened soya (chiller, not uht) too.

We use oatly barista for everything. Cereal, tea, mashed potatoes, baking, sauces. Everything.

Raaaaaah · 17/05/2019 09:15

Oatly semi chilled! We have tried all of them and this is the one we use. I feel a bit rubbish using soya and almond as they aren’t great environmentally and handily I prefer oat milk.

Namechangeymcnamechange11 · 17/05/2019 09:25

Thanks everyone. I shall add some oatly barista to my Tesco shop.

Oatly skinny fresh by a mile! If not I'll have rice milk in cereal.

BonAccordSpur · 17/05/2019 13:20

Love coconut milk in my EarlGrey..tho almond in a latte

LimeKiwi · 15/06/2019 21:18

Oat milk tastes best on cereal.
In tea I'd go for soya as I find oat milk goes all "floaty" in there for some reason.
Sainsbury's soya milk is a good one.

Yawninfinitum · 15/06/2019 21:19

Unsweetened almond every time
It’s fabulous in smoothies and for cereal or porridge

Fairylea · 15/06/2019 21:20

We are a non dairy family and we all like the Tesco value range unsweetened soya milk. The Alpro one and Asda ones - even the unsweetened one- have a really weird sweet flavour but Tesco soya milk is really good.
