Brandy butter

Important seasonal decision: if I make brandy butter with marge, will it be minging? I don't have time/inclination/enough brandy to do controlled trials with different substitutes.

At the moment I'm considering either vegan Flora, Stork block which is vegan IIRC or coconut oil. Any thoughts?

I’m not sure sorry- I saw someone made some with naturli and it didn’t mix, but adding icing sugar may help:

Flora Freedom with a little icing sugar as pp said to bind it all, if it doesn't mix. Sounds like a winner!

I’ve done brandy butter with coconut oil and honey and it was ok. Wouldn’t hurry to do it again though, just a bit meh. Did custard with custard powder, coconut milk and rum that was much better though.

kikisparks · 24/12/2018 08:24

@KittenEsque honey isn’t vegan.

KittenEsque · 24/12/2018 08:32

I know.

@KittenEsque this is the vegan board? So should be about vegan recipes etc.

I know it’s the vegan board.

It wasn’t a suggested “vegan” recipe. It was info about how well coco nut oil worked, based on experience.

KittenEsque · 24/12/2018 08:37

@kikisparks “This is a vegan town for vegan people.”

kikisparks · 24/12/2018 08:41

@KittenEsque it’s not sanctimony, I just posted a fact. I’m sorry if I upset you, it’s not a personal attack on you so not sure why you’re taking it that way? I don’t care where you post the recipe as long as it’s not here where people are looking for vegan food any may get confused.

Or even if you said “I’ve done brandy butter with coconut oil and honey (obviously that’s not vegan but you could use a vegan alternative)” or similar I wouldn’t have said anything.

I’m not miserable very very happy thank you Xmas Smile I hope you can be too.

kikisparks · 24/12/2018 08:42

@KittenEsque of course it’s not only for vegans, it’s just that there should be clarity here about what is vegan and what isn’t.

So hopefully we can stop derailing OP’s thread now, but you can have the last word if you want it.
