Suitable egg replacer for baking

Is there a general “fool proof” replacement for eggs in cakes and cupcakes?
I’ve tried the Organon egg replacer and it was ok though maybe not so good in a light, fluffy sort of cake, like a sponge.
I had disastrous results using apple purée in a cupcake recipe today. Although I’m not vegan, I usually don’t have eggs at home, so prefer to use eggless recipes, but I also don’t get on well with flax seeds so I can’t use those.
Any suggestions are welcome.
Thanks in advance.

I've heard good things about aquafaba (chickpea water)

Thanks, I’ve looked up how to make it but I think that’s something for when I have more time rather than last minute cupcakes.

I never have much success with egg replacer. I use a recipe that is a vinegar/crazy cake recipe.

Chia seeds are meant to work OK (they didn't for me, but the burgers were rely yummy!).

I don't use egg replaced but you can make great cakes without them.

Let me know what sort of cake you want to make and I'll give you a recipe 😊

Thanks for the replies. I use vinegar/baking soda for a chocolate cake and that’s quite reliable but that recipe doesn’t work for cupcakes. I’d just like more variety. So if anyone has a reliable basic plain sponge cake and plain cupcakes recipe, that would be great.

Take out the cocoa powder from the chocolate vingegar cake recipe and replace it with the same weight of flour.

We use a can of coke. Works a treat!!

Isitwinteryet, do you use a small 100 ml can or a 330ml one?
Thank you.
