Vegan Stock Cubes

ParadiseLaundry · 10/10/2018 17:25

I'm catering for vegans and need stock cubes.

All the ones listed on Tesco (oXo, Kallo, Tesco own) all seem to only be vegetarian although they don't actually appear to have animal products listed, are there any that the certified vegan?

I have successfully made vegetable stock from scratch before but will perhaps not have the time to do it on this occasion so I would prefer to use stock cubes!

Marigold do a vegan bouillon powder. But not the green tub, that's only vegetarian. I've bought the vegan one from Ocado and I think they also sell it in Holland and Barrett if you have one nearby.

Morrison’s have the Marigold vegan powder too; I think it’s got an orange lid.

Knittedfairies · 10/10/2018 17:59

Duh... orange lid, but purple tub.

ParadiseLaundry · 10/10/2018 21:23

Thank you both, although I've just realised it has to be gluten free too.. which I bet it isn't! Looks like I will have to try to find the time to make my own stock!

You've certainly got dietary requirements to contend with! Hope you manage to find what you need

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 10/10/2018 21:28

It is gluten free as well :)

Lavalamped · 10/10/2018 21:29

The purple one is gluten free as well

(I don't work for Marigold!)

honeysucklejasmine · 10/10/2018 21:32

I use the Knorr gluten free ones.

Nemesia · 10/10/2018 21:34

Knorr vegetable cubes are gluten free and available everywhere, but for the nicest flavour I'd use marigold.

ParadiseLaundry · 11/10/2018 01:53

Thanks so much for the help everyone! The GF Knorr ones would be easier for me to get hold of but they only say they are suitable for vegetarians, not vegan, but I can't see any obviously non vegan ingredients. Does anyone know why this is? Saying that if I can get the marigold one I will.

You’ll have to cross reference gluten free obviously, but it should give you more options

KatieMarieJ · 11/10/2018 02:35

The Marigold ones are stocked in Tesco and Waitrose (definately) so you shouldn't struggle. It is lush. :)

Nemesia · 11/10/2018 13:43

I bought the Knorr ones today and the are now marked suitable for vegans, gluten free.

SerendipityFelix · 20/10/2018 17:31

Bit late for OP but for future lurkers I use Kallo stock cubes and the organic vegetable, french onion, mushroom, garlic & onion and tomato ones are all vegan & gf, it’s nice to have different flavoured ones to reach for different recipes.

redsummershoes · 20/10/2018 17:32

the marigold powder is really tasty.

ParadiseLaundry · 21/10/2018 21:26

I ended up going into Sainsbury's today and bought the Kallo ones as they were marked GF and Vegan. Thank you all for your help, it was much appreciated. I will probably be back in a bit to ask some more vegan related questions when it comes to making my dish Grin
