I've tried soya, and almond and can't get into it. Any suggestions for a fussie newbie?

Oatly by a mile.
We have regular and barista.
Tried all of them but Oatly easily won.

Oatly is good but shake the carton or the first glass is a weird watery consistency (from experience!).

Also you could try rebel kitchen mylk, it’s expensive but the most cows milk like I’ve had except for a slight coconut taste- it’s available in skimmed, semi skimmed and whole from sainsburys, Ocado and maybe other places too www.ocado.com/webshop/product/Rebel-Kitchen-Whole-Dairy-Free-Organic-Mylk/385510011

My son has a cows milk allergy and the dietitian recommended OATLY barista, it’s a good taste and still has plenty of calcium.

thedevilinablackdress · 10/07/2018 13:34

What they all said. Barista version for hot drinks.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 10/07/2018 13:34

Oat milk mostly. Hazelnut good in hot chocolate.

It’s the most subjective taste thing you’ll find in vegan eating, everyone will tell you something different. Two main things I say to everyone:

  1. try them all yourself, everyone will give you different recommendations.

  2. your tastes will change. The longer you don’t have dairy the better they will taste (and the weirder dairy will taste) human taste buds are very trainable and change all the time. The first one I got on with almond, now I pretty much only ever have soya. The first few times I had soya I hated it. Best advice I can give is try and few and then persevere until your taste buds adapt.

Oatly barista. DailyMailFail101 the alpro 0-3 cartoons are also pretty good and a higher in fat so are like full fat cows milk. DD loves giraffe milk.

Moonkissedlegs · 10/07/2018 13:41

Definitely Oatly. I think it's just like milk really.

gigi556 · 10/07/2018 13:48

Have you tried Rude Health brand almond milk? It's WAY better than other brands. Also the hazelnut milk is to die for!

thedevilinablackdress · 10/07/2018 13:58

Good advice Kirsten
It's not dairy so isn't going to taste the same. If you're always looking for one that does, you'll be disappointed.

In order I like;

  1. oatly organic long life (it’s my favourite for tea & coffee)
  2. oatly barista
  3. cashew milk
  4. rice milk

I’ve just bought oatly single cream which I’m going to try in coffee tomorrow. I’ll report back Grin!

RhubarbRhubarbRhubarbRhubarb · 12/07/2018 09:06

I can vouch for oatly single cream in coffee. Very nice colour and texture. I still think I prefer their organic milk though... I really should’ve bought a carton of each to do a taste test!

Alpro oat milk.

Aughrim18 · 24/08/2018 22:01

Happy Pear do a u tube video on the different types of plant based milks.

Almond or coconut milk in porridge

cushioncovers · 25/08/2018 06:55

I love happy pear products. Think I'm addicted to their sundried tomato pestoBlush

Banananananananaaaa · 25/08/2018 06:58

Another vote for oatly barista - lovely and creamy in coffee. I bulk buy on Amazon.
