A long short - when I first became a vegetarian in the early 90s I used to buy a carrot pate in a glass jar which I loved.
I haven't been able to find it - any one have any ideas

I don't remember it, but am interested.
Did you get it from a health food shop or in supermarkets?

Happy50 · 10/02/2018 21:25

From health shops - I really loved it. It was in the section with the pates in tubes

Hugh Fearnley whittingstall has a recipe for a roast carrot hummus in his 'Vegetable' cookbook. Really easy and tastes delicious. Similar-ish to what you were looking for.

I'll see if I can find the recipe online

Here's the recipe via a blogger http://englishcountrycooking.co.uk/recipes/veggie/carrot-hummus-something-healthy-start-year/ there's also other variations on this online if you just search Hugh H-F carrot hummus

Hugoagogo - it was right next to the tartex

I'm sad that I never saw it, I love tartex and that chickpea pate in the little tin. Something different is always welcome for a sandwich.

Happy50 · 10/02/2018 22:30

Yes I liked the chickpea pate too but nothing came close to the carrot one.

Was it in the little glass jar and the lid was a gingham pattern? I remember that!

That’s it
