What do you put in your tea?!

I’ve more or less made a good transition over to eating a predominately vegan diet.
But I’m struggling with milk in tea!!
I’ve tried almond and soya (curdles), coconut (tank).
Any suggestions?

If it's bitter you are steeping it for too long @Redwineistasty. Maybe try a "soft" tasting tea, like Darjeeling, without milk and steep for a couple of minutes max.

I love a strong brew fairfax, (with milk) It’d take a lot for me to change the strength I’m afraid. I’m not a fan of Darjeeling, but love an earl grey or a rooibus..... bizarrely both with milk!

Ok try Assam instead. Go for a strong flavour, not an oversteeped brew (I like a strong flavoured tea and drink Assam loose leaf)

Too long releases too many tannins, which taints the overall taste of the leaf.

The problem that Oatly have is that it has really taken off in the last year and they are struggling to keep up.
They don’t favour any one supplier so no one store is all that reliable.
I find that the coffee shops are happy to sell it to you. I know my local one sells it for £2

Thanks fairfax I have tried many teas, but I do prefer builders more than any other. I’m just looking for a milk alternative that’s all.

Oatly Barista is £1.70 from Morrison's online (it's in my next order).

Oat milk

I'm with Fairfax here, I've finished veganuary and carried on. I didn't find anything to go in my tea that made it taste like the tea I was used to, so I switched completely to green tea. It doesn't require milk and I actually feel better for cutting out the caffeine. I've got used to black coffee but I only have one a day so no big deal. Wish you all the best!

HardRockHallelujah · 03/02/2018 23:50

Sorry I guess what I'm saying is change your mindset!

ThatWhiteElephant · 08/02/2018 17:48

Oak milk here.

HardRock Green tea,( unless it's decaff of course!) has got some caffeine in it. It's much better for us than normal 'black' tea though.

Redwine Have you tried adding your milk when your tea has gone off the boil? That does tend to make the plant milk less likely to curdle.

Oh and really whisking it in hard.
