BBQ "pulled pork" jackfruit

I keep reading about this and have a tin of jackfruit ready.

Has anyone made it before? Is it really that amazing?

I have eaten it at a vegan festival and was underwhelmed. I have made jackfruit tikka masala, and the curry itself tastes delicious, but I am again underwhelmed by the jackfruit. The texture is too watery.

I've not made it but had it at a vegan(ish) friend’s recently. It was nice, fairly convincing (I’m definitely not any kind of vegan), bit sweeter than meat would be and the texture is softer, but enjoyable in its own right.

I didn't find it the least bit convincing. It isn't chewy enough and too watery. It isn't horrible, but I would rather not try and use it to replicate pulled pork because it doesn't make a good enough substitute IMO.

Thanks for your comments, they are in line with what I thought it would be. Still making it but not going to expect too much from it.

We tried Vivera ‘pulled pork’ in tacos last night. Really enjoyed it.

I loved it! Sweet, tangy... great in a bap with sweet potato fries. Yum!

Sainsburys have just released a new vegan range Inc this jack fruit 'pulled pork'. My vegan sister says it's nice, but I've not seen it in my local store yet.

I quite like Jacfruit. Not cooked it myself but had it a few times in resteraunt. Had a lovely jackfruit curry in a veggie resteraunt recently.

It's OK. I get really excited if a 'normal' place has it (I may or may not have been to Starbucks four times in one week when their BBQ Jackfruit first came out) but it wouldn't be my first choice of Vegan options.

I find the texture too soft on its own, but in a wrap it's really nice! If you get the chance, try it!

I've done pulled celeriac and that was quite firm (but I'm not a huge fan of the lingering taste of celery so a little goes a long way).

I don’t know how it compares with actual pork as I haven’t eaten it in 30 years. I followed a recipe in the Guardian and really liked the jackfruit but found the sauce too sweet.

I have another tin in the cupboard and will try a Thai green curry kind of thing which is more to my taste.
