Hi all, after almost two years as a junk food vegan, I've decided to do a vegan reboot and aim to be as whole foods and plant based as possible in 2018.

Anyone else fancy being vegan for themselves as well as the animals? Wink

I'm committing myself to Veganary in a hope to reboot my junk food veggie diet. Cheese and cream and chocolate feature far too much and I need a kick start.

Ooh best of luck but as a vegan you can still fall into bad habits - my vegan friends feast on crisps and chips.

I’m not vegan but eat quite a few vegan meals

Chinese braised broccoli with rice
Bean salad (always to hand)
Dahl (lots of different ones) and rice/flatbread
Stir fry with pak Choi/any other veg.
Aubergine with onion, garlic sweet peppers (lots of other variations)
Lots of soups enriched with beans

Wish you luck - totally see what you mean about cheese!

My downfall tends to be at work - that biscuit tin and cake Fridays are just so tempting! I just need a really good reason to say No. And to prove a point to some people who think I won't be able to do it!

I'm ignoring the fact bourbons Oreos and skittles are vegan!

SequinsOnEverything · 31/12/2017 01:33

I am also a junk food vegan and aiming to eat much healthier food next year. I am currently proof that vegans are not all thin and healthy and can in fact be very fat.

Glad to see I'm not alone!

@Colleysmill I am looking to use veganuary as my reboot, too, and was my inspiration for a fresh start Smile

I eat too much generally, but of all the wrong stuff and it's escalated in the last year after my husband went vegan thanks to last veganuary. We've been trying all the stuff we can because it's vegan Hmm

I'll be avoiding Skittles, Oreos, any pastries and cakes.

I'll be drinking more water, eating more fresh produce, and trying not to snack!!!

I’m another junk food veggie! Way too many cheese and crackers. To be fair, we mostly eat quite healthy, largely vegan main meals - lots of homemade curries, stir fry’s etc - it’s the in between bits that the problems, especially snacks and quick lunches when I really just reach for the cheese. Aiming to be as plant based as possible into the New Year...

colleysmill · 31/12/2017 09:12

Oh yes cheese another downfall for me. Far too much cheese on everything!

I've planned meals ahead for the week otherwise I will fail miaerably. And lunches. My local cafe to work has limited veggie options let alone vegan so I've got to be organised

SequinsOnEverything · 01/01/2018 00:58

I have planned our meals for the next week and a half. For lunches I'll make some big batches of salads (cauliflower and brocolli, pearl barley and sweet potato, quinoa) every few days and we'll have a bit of each with some tofu or chickpea cakes. I might make some pea soup if we get bored of that.

For evening meals we are having falafel salad, homemade burgers and stuffed mushrooms (no buns to keep the calories down), spinach and pesto pasta, chilli, chickpea curry, pad thai, tacos (with lettuce instead of taco shells) and mac and cheese, but I probably won't have that as I never really liked mac and cheese even before I was vegan and it's got a whole block of violife in it!

For snacks I'm having carrot sticks and brocolli with hummus. I've still got some chocolate and tiffin left from christmas so will have a little bit of that each night if I've stuck to my plan in the day.

I'm such a junk food vegan, I was lucky that I lost my pregnancy weight after DS and I can feel it creeping back on (also growing another bubs doesn't help) but I want to feel comfortable before then. I'm just trying to detox the shite from my system!

For breakfast I had three LM sausages with beans and a fried onion.
For lunch I had a wrap with a veggie burger and salad
For tea I going out to Prezzo with some friends.
I have passed an open packet of skittles six times and my small handful has turned into half a bag.

God loves a trier at least!

TortiousTortoise · 19/01/2018 06:52

How are you all getting on? I think I've lost about 3lb, which is a start. Lots of rice, tofu, stir fried veg. Not much snacking. Green smoothies. I've not restricted my intake at all, just eating how much I want.
