Hello Smile I thought I would start a thread where we could discuss bargain meals/recipes and share offers that we have spotted.

So here we go, last night I made a really simple cheap dinner and very unexpectedly the kids loved it. All I did was make some basic tomato pasta sauce, added nearly a whole bag of frozen sliced peppers, 2 tins of chickpeas and some sliced olives, I cooked a whole bag of pasta and mixed it together and it made a huge pot that will last us a couple of days for lunches too.

Plus an offer, Asda currently have most dairy free longlife milks on 4 for £4, I don't know if it's a long term deal but I have taken advantage and stocked up, so if you hear of someone being crushed to death by a mountain of alpro chocolate milkshake, it was me Blush

I think the Asda deal is a good long running one it's very good for a couple of different types if needed!

I shop mostly at Morrisons and buy a lot of the KTC brand (Indian food/world food aisle). Chopped tomatos, chick peas, black eyed beans, butter beans etc etc all 38p and very very often on a 4 for £1 deal. They also do a huge sack of lentils for around £3.90. The KTC coconut milk is 57p a can which is the cheapest I've found by far. Huge sacks of rice too about a tenner a sack. All of this is so much cheaper than the exact same stuff a few aisles along! I don't have an Asian supermarket near me, but if you do try there too.

Morrisons meat free freezer has own brand burgers that are vegan - 6 in a box for 1.50.

Asda do a 1kg bag of whole grain pasta.

Spinach leaves cheapest in Aldi, but in any supermarket spinach is more expensive when placed in the salad area than the vegetable area and it's all the bloody same!

Morrisons own peanut butter is 100% peanuts (no palm oil) and it's about 1.60 (ish) a jar.

Coconut oil - don't bother with the 8 a jar stuff, so long as it is 100% coconut oil it's fine. Supermarket own brands are normally 2.50 for 300ml but I got a 500ml tub for 1.49 at bnm bargains.

Hope this helps :)

NICE, loving this thread!
I didn't know the chocolate alpro's are on sale! They make really nice smoothies/milkshakes with banana's, oats, and frozen fruit. You can add your little bits of seeds/nuts that you don't like and you won't even know.

Lidl have veg of the week (not sure exact term) and they sometimes sell bags of spinach for 29p.

Jus Rol Bake It Fresh Cinnamon Swirls in Tescos are 2 for £3 at the moment. They taste EXACTLY like the non vegan version! Will be stocking up on those.

I also do a pasta pot meal - cooked pasta (want to try the lentil pasta when I get hold of some) mixed with onion, tomato sauce (passata) herbs and chopped up veggie sausages. With some home made garlic bread ( sliced french stick or I often do with just slices of bread) - spread the bread with margarine, thn sprinkle garlic granules and herbs, and then drizzle oil over and cook for about 10 mins at 200c

Ooh good to hear the Asda milk deal is a long running one TwentyCups, I love the ktc brand too, the first few times I used the tins I tried to work out if something was different about them to make them so much cheaper, but no nothing they are just brilliant value!

insideoutsidein chocolate alpro milk is a great idea for smoothies, i will give it a go Smile I was considering trying to warm some up to see how it does as hot chocolate hmmmm

I will try that vegancow the rest of the family like Bolognese but I really don't like it so I hardly ever make it so that sounds like a good meet in the middle idea.

Aldi have avocados for 45p each until the 10th, they also have garlic, lemons, chillies and coriander on offer. I think I am going to live off of guacamole and sweet potatoes this week.

Alpro ice cream is £2 in Tesco until the 22nd and aldi have started making a coconut milk icecream which is around £2.50.

Not an offer but Tesco have a kg bag of imperfect frozen berries for £2.75 which are really good value for smoothies and porridge.

It's not food but some very cheap toiletries cleaning prouducts:

Astonish brand for cleaning - they make all sorts including sprays, floor cleaner, fabric conditioner etc. All dead cheap and have vegan logo. Can be found in pound shops.

NSpa bath and shower stuff - exclusive to Asda really nice fruity bath and shower gels and body sprays. All not tested on animals. Often on offer at Asda but cheap anyway. The packaging is nice and they make good gifts!

Tescos free from range is but 2 get one free at the moment and the cheese is SO GOOD!!
I like the sliced Red Leicester cheese the best, I've just had a slice on toast.

I also like the Tesco own brand soya milk for 59p

SentientCushion · 10/05/2017 21:26

I like the frozen Mediterranean mixed veg from Tesco too, makes curries etc really easy.
