trying to plan for DH's 30th next year and thinking of getting a group of friends together to go away for the weekend but somewhere really different, have scoured various websites hiring out castles and the like as self-catering/exclusive use options

Budget won't be excessive but thankfully in March when it's low season. We're all based in London or Bristol but happy to go anywhere in UK dependant on cost

any ideas??

You could hire a narrow boat/norfolk broads cruiser?

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 15/06/2010 14:16

Lighthouse?

Check here for prices/boat sizes. It's a great holiday. Cruise along the river/broads, moor up in different villages/towns (usually right next to a pub), moor up for the night.....

Check out the National trust or big holiday house websites. What about staying somewhere less exciting but planning some fab activities. Sometimes all being together in one place, even for a weekend, can be a bit fraught so if you stayed in a group of cottages and planned some great things to do it might make a great weekend. Have a look at Ringworthy near Looe for cottages with a place for groups to hang out. What about a casino night whilst you are away or a quiz or car treasure hunt. Loads of fun things you could do. I am off to the Olympics for my big birthday and am planning it already!

Lovely rooms in the windmill itself, but bed and breakfast. Self-catering in the stableblock
