Been a few times, going again for a long weekend end of May.

Anyone got any recomendations for family friendly eating places, things to do?

Have 2 DS 9 and 5 - done Big Sheep several times, cyling Tarka Trail, crabbing etc. They don't really like amusement parks with rides etc!!!

Any suggestions welcome - thanks.

Didn't there used to be a Mumsnetter who lived in or near Bideford?

Does anyone have any suggestions please?

I love Appledore - have been a couple of times.. try Skerne Lodge here for activities - my DC have done surfing with them off Westward Ho beach, but they also do kayaking and stuff, not sure on the age limits though.

Crabbing is good at Appledore

I grew up there. desperately trying to think of stuff. Westward Ho for the beach; give them money for amusement arcade (my kids' favourites). Skern Lodge for activity stuff. Pannier Market at Bideford or Barnstaple - full of lovely junk to browse through. Milky way - towards Hartland - like the big sheep but a bit different; used to have birds of prey sanctuary.

Woolacombe beach, super lovely, or try Barricane (shell beach) next to it for amazing evening Sri Lankan curries (shh, local secret). Also Lynton for awesome valley of the rocks walk and Lynmouth for cliff railway experience. Try the Rock in Georgeham for awesome Sunday lunches and no 11 The Quay (Damien Hirsts) for a cuppa on the harbour in Ilfracombe as well as admiring the interesting wallpaper (£10 meal deals on here sometimes too an the food is lovely). Ferry to Swansea and Cardiff starting soon too! Enjoy!

Farm Park in Swimbridge opens next weekend too methinks.

Thank you Swans for those suggestions - Barricane looks particularly lovely!
