we are thinking of going to Devon/Cornwall area for a week in end of August, would the weather be good at that time of year? should we try to go earlier?
do you have any recommendations for where to stay, what to do? we have 2 DDs, 3.5 years and 1.5 year of age.

TIA

If you're looking for the last week of August/first week of september (ie w/c 27th or 28th August) you may well be lucky in getting a bargain as this is a difficult week for us cottage owners to let!

It may be worth asking for a discount for this week if you are booking.

The weather in Devon & Cornwall always seems to improve in September for some strange reason (something to do with our holiday makers going home maybe??) Plus ... if you are looking for a seaside holiday, the water seems to be warmer in September!

Drayford - I am looking for that week and I can't find anything (although I am fairly picky) .. need 2 double beds, plus 3 beds plus a cot and prefably walking to the sea

Try an availability search on independentcottages.com or holiday-rentals.co.uk - sorry too knackered to fiddle with the link thingy - both sites are for independent owners and you are therefore likely to get a better price and deal from owners.

Hi we went to North Devon last year. My dd's were 2 and 4 at the time. Lots of lovely places to go and a variety of beaches. We stayed in a cottage called Swallows Barton. It was a bit out the way but very nice and even had children's toys!
