Cheap student accomodation in London?

I'm looking for recommendations for cheap, clean safe accomodation on central London. It's for a friend, a single parent who has to stay in London for a week as part of her college course. She will have a lot of expenses getting there and having her dd looked after when she away and she is worried that she won't be able to afford anything decent. Any recommendations for her?

what about Baden Powell house? It is in south Kensington and beside the Natural History museum. 10 mins to Horrids, close to the V&A, Kensington Gardens...
