Scotland holiday help needed

We are looking at Scotland for our annual holiday but don't know where to go. We have a toddler who will be 3 when we go in September so need activities like ice cream farm, soft play, swimming pool etc in case of rain !!!. Thinking of either Fife or outskirts of Oban. We want to be in the countryside but within easy distance of beaches. Any recommendations where to go would be appreciated - thank you.

Dumfries and Galloway is fabulous - quiet, lovely beaches - ice cream factory here, lovely forests. The area around Kirkcudbright is really bonny. It's also much easier to get to than the rest of Scotland - just across the border really. We stayed here last year, which was lovely, but it's quite remote - a drive from shops rather than a walk, but the people who own it are lovely, and the children could see the farm (we were there at lambing time) and visit lovely Thelma the pig.

Oban has sandy beaches. There's a lovely, secluded sandy beach heading from Oban to Fort William called Coul Bay. Beautiful.

There is also plenty to keep you occupied heading that way. Oban has a Sealife Centre. Fort William has soft play and steam train to Mallaig, which also has plenty of sandy beaches.

You also have the 'gateway to the islands' at Oban, so you can visit Tobamory (aka Balamory!) and many others. Seal watching and other sealife watching also from Oban.

Anywhere that way has plenty of countryside and mountains to look at! Ben Nevis is at Fort William too!

Can you tell I've been there and I love it!
