Hi

we're planning our first holiday as a family - me, DH and DS who will be 7 months (going in April).

All we know is we'd like a beach holiday in a town with plenty of baby friendly lunchtime spots (cafes/pubs etc) and walks we can do with DS in a carrier. Ideally somewhere a few hours drive from London - perhaps the south coast. We'd like go go self catered.

Can anyone recommend anywhere? The most important thing is having some walks (we usually go the lake district and will be taking DS in august).

Thanks!

Try Suffolk - went there when DS2 was only 4 months old and it ticked all those boxes. Stayed in a child friendly place called Henrys Barn near Peasenhall (self catering cottage) - needed other facilities as have a 3 year old too - and loved it.

whitstable is good (but i live here so am biased) + well placed for good walks (e.g. along old crab and winkle line into canterbury or you could forage in Blean woods (inspiration for Noggin the Nog)

does not have sandy beach but in some ways that is a blessing as you would know if you have ever tried to change a nappy on the sand in the slightest breeze

witch I've heard good things about whitstable so will have a look! I'm not fussed about sand and hadn't even thought about sandy nappies
