I am planning a trip to Chester zoo in March and I was wondering what the food is like, how much is the food??

Hi, there are a few cafes places to eat, we have always eaten at the main one (by the entrance).

Don't remember feeling it was expensive, can't really remember options, although I am pretty sure DD had a child box (sandwiches, yoghurt, crisps etc).

Think basically ok, nothing special, nothing too expensive.

They do have plenty of places you could eat your own food if you fancy taking a picnic etc.

food is average priced. there's a big cafe, cafe tsavo by the main entrance that has hot food and sandwiches, ice cream and drinks. children's box is about £3, an adult basic hot meal about £4/£5, portion of chips about £1.50. There's another big cafe, the Fountain cafe, sort of halfway through the zoo, which has a fast food bar (not recommended!), as well as similar food to the cafe tsavo. there is a nice tea-room type cafe in Oakfield house at the far end of the zoo, with nice but dear (starbucks type prices) coffee and cakes and some hot mains. Alternatively the zoo is about ten minutes drive from Cheshire Oaks which has the Coliseum entertainment park adjacent with lots of restaurants.

I love Chester zoo! Loads of paces to sit and eat a picnic. I've never bought food there.
