Alton Towers - advice please!

Going for a day on Mon 19th Oct then staying overnight at Splash Landings. Is it worth doing the water park the following day? Any tips for surviving/enjoying the resort with a 5 yr old and a 2 yr old? Is the food hideous and overpriced? Any suggestions welcome.....TIA.

we had great time when we went but didn't do the waterpark as we had too many kids and not enough adults to supervise-
we hired a double buggy from their guest services- really worth it for us as its quite a long walk from area to area.
our 4 and 2 year olds had a fab time
2 year old was tall enough to go on the runaway train (over 90 cm) but was really scared- apart from that they loved everything we went on
berry blasting was really enjoyed

no - splash landings and some of the rides will prob be enough water for them - there is also a waterpark in nearby stoke which is more reasonably priced if you are passing that way. food has improved recently - the pizza/pasta/salad buffet was a hit with ds who can be quite fussy. dh was keen on the curry place and i saw annabel karmel meals being served somewhere in the park.

main thing re resort is that it is huge - ds rarely uses a pushchair nowadays but i took his along and def never regretted it - i saw people with much older school-age children having to resort to hiring a buggy on-site for about seven pounds because their little legs had ground to a halt.

food is not great at splash landings but at least you are near all the action

The food is better in the restaurant at the Alton Towers Hotel, the two hotels are connected so you can walk through past the waterpark. I would defo do the waterpark, there is plenty to do for the littlies (and the big brave dads). I second the buggy idea, my 4 year old was glad of it.
