Apart from the sea zoo thing and Canaerfon castle. We have done those already as day trips from the Lleyn.

We have a 4 and a 5 year old (dds) so anything involving soft fluffy animals, bunnies, ponies etc etc.

Indoor play hell holes centres as well, but nice ones. Nothing attached to a brewsters fair thankyouverymuch.

Oh and a GOOD family pub recommendation too please.

thankyooooooooou

Londis was where we would walk to buy sweets
There was a bakers on the corner of her road
Wish we could go back, actually should take DH to stay in the castle apartments although DCs not allowed
Mr and Mrs Gray-Parry at the castle were quite proper, my cousin once wrote 'cowpat' in the visitors book, and they were not amused

pointydog · 16/07/2009 17:15

oh a folly, yes. We have stayed at the little caravan park.

pointydog · 16/07/2009 17:16

how many stars is it? The castle? I don't find the standrad of welsh websites to be very high

pointydog · 16/07/2009 17:17

stay at the caravna park. It's funny. Or take a tent

DarrellRivers · 16/07/2009 17:17

My granny's woods backed onto the bottom of the caravan park
It was heaven
Quite liked the chips at Pete's Eats too

pointydog · 16/07/2009 17:18

the fish an dchips were alright. Apparently the butcher there has won some award or other. My sister said. I haven't bought meat there

DarrellRivers · 16/07/2009 17:20

You know when I was younger it looked quite big
This is the one I remember www.brynteg.co.uk/park-facilities/

pointydog · 16/07/2009 17:23

no it wasn't that one. It was a little one. Called white something. gwyn? I'll try to find it

pointydog · 16/07/2009 17:25

this is it!

I love that picture of the folk who run it

pointydog · 16/07/2009 17:25

I'll be staying in your one next time

DarrellRivers · 16/07/2009 17:27

I think my granny and grandad waged war with the owners of the caravan park
There was always lots of noise, boundary disputes with attempts to stealthily steal a few extra metres of land and people would picnic in my GPs layby/drive (so my grandad would throw stones at them)
We however never thought of ourselves as holiday makers

pointydog · 16/07/2009 17:28

I have laways felt very much a holidya maker in llanrug

DarrellRivers · 16/07/2009 17:29

I have to say the BrynTeg one looks quite swishy, although that website gives you bugger all information
Your caravan park looks more homely, particularly the family running it

DarrellRivers · 16/07/2009 17:30

I think in some ways it was just something which showed my age
Ah the age of innocence

pointydog · 16/07/2009 17:31

yes it was very homely

There seemed to be quite a few single male pensioners with dogs who lived there all the time. The vans are all in a big ring and all teh dogs poo in the middle. It was funny

DarrellRivers · 16/07/2009 17:33

Well, we're off to Tywyn in a week, so goodness knows what new delights we will discover there
Check out my granny's old house next time you go visit your sister

pointydog · 16/07/2009 17:34

where' tywyn?

DarrellRivers · 16/07/2009 17:46

Few KMs north of Aberdyfi
Lots of sandy dune beaches (hopes is not pissing down with rain as it so usually is on a Welsh holiday)
It's DH's first Welsh holiday

moondog · 16/07/2009 21:03

'Hi moony, very well thank you. We set forth on a 2 week Anglesey/lleyn combo on Saturday. I may even try and find your fish man or at least keep the family going on the annual hunt to find the mythical ?moondog?s crab man?.'

Slubber, you must make it your mission to find him this time. FGS!!!!

Here is his website. You have no excuse!

mejon · 16/07/2009 22:51

Darrell and Pointydog - my mother is a Llanrug-girl and had her wedding reception at Castell Bryn Bras . This is the 2nd thread it has been mentioned in in the last month.

paddingtonbear1 · 16/07/2009 22:57

we are going to the Brynteg one next week! I hope it's OK, never been before...
I like the area though. Even when it's raining.. Last year we stayed by the sea, it rained and blew a gale. Was quite atmospheric really! dd insisted on climbing every staircase in the castle nearby...

puffylovett · 16/07/2009 23:30

We've just got back from a week in Anglesey, it was lovely.. thank heavens for MNers who recommended some things for us too

I second Henblas, we spent a whole day there - kids loved it, I could barely peel DS off the ride on tractors.

We were recommended Foel Farm too but didn't do it, went for Henblas instead in case it rained (briliant indoor adventure playground)

Sea Zoo was a waste of money IMO although we did bag a bargain toy for DS

Beaumaris was lovely, as were some of the beaches up the coast from Red Wharf Bay. There is the fabbest ice cream parlour in beaumaris, I can highly recommend at least 4 of their flavours

pointydog · 17/07/2009 13:44

another llanrtug connection, mejon!

paddington, let me know what you think of it. Might go there sometime when visiting sister

Slubberdegullion · 17/07/2009 13:46

loving the pointy/darrell reminiscences. aww.

Will have to do all suggestions and report back upon return.
