Stuff do do in York, thread #5673...

I'm spending a few days in York the week after next with DS(4) and DD(nearly 14 months).

I have scoured seemingly every thread on MN on Things To Do In York With Small Children, and have a shortlist...

Things to do:
National Railway Museum (I see there's a First Steps thing for small children at 2pm weekdays; is it any good?)
Castle Museum
Jorvik
Dig
River trip
Creepy Crawlies soft play and petting farm
Murton Park

Child-friendly places to eat:
Betty's Tea Rooms
Ask on Blake Street
National Trust cafe on Goodramgate
Blakehead cafe on Mickelgate
Cafe Concerto on High Petergate
VJ's off Samson's Square

Can any local or well-informed MNers add to this list or recommend particular things? haven't been to York since about 2003/4, and never with children.

It's probably too much! But if my normal luck held half of it would be closed for refurbishment that week...

There is a very nice Pizza Express (and I can vouch for the Ask too!)

There are river cruises too - they are always nice for kids and the open top bus tours are good.

But, given I'll be planning some time in York with my one year old, this 'shortlist' is great!!!

Thanks!

HM
