Alton towers advice

Children, desperate to visit Alton Towers and DH has to go to conference in Sheffield during the first week of the (scottish) school holidays, I know its not that near but MUCH nearer than home. We are considering combining the two ... youngest is 5 and oldest has vertigo! will there be enough things for them to do avoiding the big rollercoasters etc., also is it worth staying in one of the onsite hotels? Have never been to a theme park so have nothing to compare it with.

Yes, lots to do for all ages although it's a shame to give the rollercoasters a miss.

It's a big place and covers quite an area so pace yourselves. Arm yourself with a map. You'll need it.

Prepare for all weathers.

Hotel is convenient but not cheap. One of the advantages is that you get to enter the theme park earlier than the general public. The buffet facilites at the hotel are good but be prepared to queue at peak meal times.

If I can think of anything else I'll let you know.
