A very good friend of mine NEEDS a holiday, I told her I would post a message on here because I know MNetters will help! It has to be in the UK, she will be going with her DH who prefers hotels and don't mind going out to eat and also her DM who is elderly but prefers self catering and staying in to eat. She will not put her Mum in respite (sp)care, there is no one else to care for her DM and she won't have one holiday with her DH and another with her DM. So is there anywhere in the UK which will accomodate them to a point????

Not sure of your friend's budget, but Fingals might be an option. It's quirky, but nice. Food is very good so you don't have to go out if you don't want to. If you do, you're near Dartmouth for restaurants.

I think they have a self-contained unit, as well as more traditional hotel rooms, which may work for them. It's very kid friendly, but I went with DH for our anniversary pre-kid and it didn't feel overrun with families. We really enjoyed it.

Thanks JFly. Should have mentioned my DF is a mature lady and her DS is now 21yo but he won't be going.

Curly - hotels have restaurants (so eating in) - would this not cover both requirements?

The Cotswold Water Park Hotel is a spa hotel that also has self catering apartments to rent. If they stayed in the apartments rather than the hotel rooms, the Mum could cater for herself and her and her husband could eat at the hotel or at pubs/restaurants in the area and use the spa facilities (the Mum could use the spa as well of course!).
