Transport Costs in London?

We're going to London for 5 days and will be travelling in to central London from West Hendon on about 4 of those days. There'll be 2 adults and 2 kids..one aged 8 and one aged 3.
What's the cheapest way to travel in..is there a cheap travel card we can buy? Is it cheaper to travel after a certain hour? Any tips?

Oyster cards are the best way to travel around London - you just put the money on the card and use it on buses and tubes whenever you need to. You shouldn't have to pay for kids on buses and tubes, not sure about trains. Best to check the transport for London website - google tfl.

Both your children travel free. Get Oyster cards for the adults and just pay as you go. The oyster card caps the fee at the cost of a daily travel card as long as you always touch in and touch out.

Its cheaper to travel anytime after 9.30am.

Most overground trains don't take pay as you go oyster.

Go to www.tfl.gov.uk for more info.

Kids under 5 are free on the trains, under 16s are free on underground and buses
