I've just booked a week in a cottage in Dornoch. Wanted to stay in Inverness but it is full!

I've never been that far north before. Does anybody have any suggestions about places to visit in that area.

Thanks

Dornoch is a lovely place to visit if the weather is good. The beaches are amazing but when we went it rained. And rained. And rained some more.......

It is a good hours drive to Inverness if you want to shopping/city stuff. There is a good wee wildlife place at the Black Isle, and a few nice towns you could visit too.

Hopefully someone will come along who visited with better weather and some better suggestions

PS - if you are self catering would do your shopping in Inverness

Thanks

I was thinking we should stop off in Inverness on the way up to get food supplies.

The weather doesn't look too promising but I will pack the waterproofs and hope for
the best.

There are some good castles: Brodie and Cawdor. Also, a bit further away, the Highland Wildlife centre (wolves and lynxes, polecats, etc--really good. It's near Aviemore).
