My 13 year old dd has been offered a place in the National Youth Music Theatre . This is fantastic and we are absolutely thrilled, however we are now in the position of having to be in London for almost 2 weeks in August. Does anyone have any ideas of where dd ds and I can stay without taking out a second mortgage?

Congratulations!

Houseswap?
University halls of residence?

Thanks! They sound like good options but are there any sites to source them?

Try here

Don't be put off by the fact its a hostel. It has won awards, is clean, safe, friendly and v cheap!!

They have a 3 bed room which you would have to yourselves too.

I don't know of sites but google turns them up pretty quick for university accommodation.

goldsmiths

kings

central org they all seem to sign up to

I should put in a disclaimer that I have never stayed in any of these places but I did stay in Bristol university halls out of season and it was a bit shabby (bed was very narrow!) but cheap and great location.

Some university halls don't permit under 16s to stay in them, so check conditions!

You might get lucky with Travelodge if you book early enough. We stayed in Morden for a week for £120 last year. Easy links to town, only downside is whole family in one room.

a host family? google 'host family london'.
