Center Parcs - Whinfell

I go next Monday for a cheap offer midweek break, we've not been before & are going as we have just had to cancel our ski holiday & wanted to still do something to make a fuss of ds who's 4 before the new baby arrives. (I've already been in prem labour last week so guessing he could come anytime, but hopefully not until April. The docs have cleared me to go here, as long as I don't do more than a gentle stroll/float in the pool).

I was just seeking advice of what is best to do once there, dh has pre-booked ds into a few activities, other than that I think we're going to see once we're there.
I think we're staying in Fell View (?), anybody stayed in these?
Also, is there a supermarket close by, thinking of picking up some groceries on the way in, don't want to be eating out all the time..

Thanks

Hi missy, not been to whinfell but have been to both longleat and elveden - they all have their own supermarkets which sell a wide range of stuff if you don't want to take loads with you. Eating out can be quite expensive there so you might want to eat in occasionally.

Pools are usually fabulous you could spend most of the day there. They have waves, flumes, rapids etc - usually a section for the little ones too with slides etc. You could have a treatment in the spa - they usually have special ones for pregnant ladies! Scenery is great and usually lots of cycling - presume you won't be able to do that though - hopefully your accommodation isn't too far from the centre! A lot of the activities get very booked up so think you were wise to book some in advance. Hopefully someone will post who has been to whinfell and can give you more specific info. Have a lovely time!

whinfell is fab. cant remember re the supermarket, but take a look on supermarket sites for 'store search' and type in whinfells postcode. also, they do havev a mini supermarket on site which was still reasonably priced.

Hi, thanks for your replies
I looked up the spa but can't see anything relating to being pregnant so I may call them tomorrow or go and see then when we arrive on Monday

Nope, no cycling for me, well, I think not, I will check with my mw and see what she thinks..

sowhatis I hadn't thought about the 'store search' - great idea

Hi

We've been to Whinfell 3 times now. There is a supermarket - not a huge selection but not too bad. There's also a morrisons at nearby Penrith.

We usually do a lot of cycling and go to the pool every day. There's also ten pin bowling which your ds might like - our ds2 was only 3 the last time we went and he enjoyed that. There are a couple of good outdoor parks and a good soft play area in the pub.

We generally spend our time watching the kids play but they have a ball and it's lovely. Have a nice break!
