Butlins - Bognor/ accommodation.

Hi we are thinking of braving butlins for the first time. DS will be 2, very active. Are the Silver plus rooms big enough, comfy enough, clean enough? Seen some horror stories generally about chalets....

Also would like to have a break from cooking. DH is quite fussy re: food - anybody tried the half board option?

Thanks everyone -

hi

we have been to butlins lots of times and always stay in silver plus or gold accommodation, definately worth paying the extra. the half board option with gold accommodation is much better, food is better and restaurant much nicer.

food in restaurant is anything from salad to roast dinner, pasta, curry, soup, jackets and variety of other food.

we aren't going for a while as have been approx 8 times in last 4 yrs with dd.

which butlins were you thinking of going.

Hi went to butlins on the breakfast/dinner thing and stayed in silver accomodation, it was fine we had 2 bedrooms and the dd's were meant to share but dd2 ended up in travel cot in our room. We took snacky food with us (crisps, biscuits, crackers etc) food was ok but bit canteen style (although was perfect for the dd's as loads of different options every night always a pasta dish, salad bar, traditional dish (shephers pie/roast etc) then sausgae/fish chips etc

Breakfast was full english or cereal, toast, yoghurts, boiled eggs etc

If we go again we'd probably go self catering but only vecause you are limited to when you can eat on the inclusive meals and we only went for 5 days and that was plenty long enough!

Thank you both really helpful. We are thinking of going to Butlins in Bognor. I am really keen (we went on a caravan holiday last year - but found the constant cooking -we are always on a tight budget) a real bore.

Food sounds like it would be ok - at least there would be choice for DH to try and find something he likes.

get gold, we had gold self catering it was like a little house but had no kitchen, it was very good and had a little balcony off main bedroom (upstairs) a double bedrom downstairs, a lounge and garden area and the food was pretty good actually

How about the hotel? Not that much more expensive and the food in the hotel is much better than other places on site. Otherwise, I would go for Gold.
