HOW EASY WOULD IT BE TO SNEAK A 2 YR OLD INTO CENTERPARCS?

I am just wondering if there is a slight possibility that I could sneak my 2.7 yr old into centerparcs to save on having to hire a 4 bed as its so much more money? Grandparents are coming to in a differant car so its possible to split the kids up on arrival . Is this a clever idea or will I be shot at dawn and be escorted shame faced off the elite center parcs premises? worth the risk or not? have you actually done it? any tips will be gratefully received. p.s toddler to sleep in a travel cot anyway, whether we got a 4 bed or 3 bed!

As far as I know there are cots in every apartment, you just have to supply your own sheets.

morningpaper · 03/10/2008 13:43

ring and ask - say he will be in a travel cot in your room, so you only need a 2-bed: they will probably be flexible

Megglevache · 03/10/2008 13:43

Lulu she worded the Op really badly.

baffledmum · 03/10/2008 13:43

The other thing I have found odd about CP is that you cannot have, for example, 2 friends stay for one night and then 2 stay for the rest of the week. I wasn't planning on defrauding them, we were going to take a 4 bedroomed place but have different friends come and visit over different nights. Still don't really understand why they cannot accommodate that. Under CP's rules, whoever arrives on a Fri or a Mon has to stay the whole period and no changes are allowed.

center parcs is not an airline. it has villas. but do please answer the question? how does it make costs go up in the leisure industry, and in this case centerparcs?

OP posts:
SoupDragon · 03/10/2008 13:44
  1. It is cheating
  2. It is fraud
  3. It is scummy.

If you're happy with all of those things, fine, go ahead.

baffledmum · 03/10/2008 13:44

morningpaper - I tried the honest approach and they told me to get lost. Couldn't have been less flexible if they had tried.

Marina · 03/10/2008 13:45

baffledmum, I would guess it is to stop you bringing in lots of pals and them getting free access to the swimming (as you pay for everything else). Seems a shame in your circs but perhaps they had to bring this rule in because customers were trying it on

baffledmum · 03/10/2008 13:46

aaahh, Marina, thank you for that explanation as it makes sense. That hadn't occured to me!!

SoupDragon · 03/10/2008 13:46

how does it make costs go up in the leisure industry, and in this case centerparcs?

Well, sneaking people in who haven't paid cuts into their profit margin therefore necessitating a price rise. Obviously a single 2.7 yo isn't going to do this alone but it's all to do with where you draw the line.

milkybarsrus · 03/10/2008 13:48

Hi marina, thanks for that info. I take on board what you have said, it makes sense re having to pay at this age, well unfortunately you do. so thats the route i'll go.

OP posts:
onepieceoflollipop · 03/10/2008 13:48

most places identify what age they consider that someone has to pay, either full or half price. e.g. some museums you are free below the age of 5. C Parcs feel that once you are 2 then you will need to be allocated your own bed. Other holiday parks set the age at 3 I think.

lulumama · 03/10/2008 13:49

thanks for the word, milkybar

it is irrelevanat the age of the child if you are in your own words, going to sneak them in. it is dishonest whatever age the child

why ask, if you don;t want to know?

you should surely know that , shock horror, on MN, people might disagree

onepieceoflollipop · 03/10/2008 13:50

I meant to add that if it was up to us as parents to tell the holiday company at what age we felt that our child needed to have their own bed (for pricing purposes) some of us would be scrunching teenagers into cots!

They have to set an age limit somewhere.

Marina · 03/10/2008 13:50

But, on the bright side milkybars, he will be considered a preschooler until he is six and may well attract you some useful discounts on that front
(Unless they've changed that criterion too)

Marina · 03/10/2008 13:52

We had a big old travel cot from Tchibo that would have slept dd up to about five onepiece However, it was so massive we never had room the car to take it anywhere
We did once arrive at a hotel in France having made it really clear that the room was for four with the youngest child aged 3 and half, to find we were expected to squash dd into a baby cot

onepieceoflollipop · 03/10/2008 13:56

Marina may I borrow that travel cot please? dd1 is only 4.9 and short for her age.

SoupDragon · 03/10/2008 13:58

2 is the age you have to pay properly for them to fly too.

milkybarsrus · 03/10/2008 13:58

lulu. I asked because i wanted to know, but I loathe people that degrade others by the words that they choose to use (like scummy) and presume that I will bring my kids up to be liars and cheats. I can't see a problem with replying to a question in a more civil way without 'putting the knife in' so to speak or the point of the question gets completely lost.

OP posts:
Egg · 03/10/2008 14:01

I can't remember 100% but am pretty sure when we went to CP in June this year (with 2 year old DS1 and then 5 month old twins), we paid for the acccommodation we chose, not for the amount of children we had.

I might be wrong though. We had 5 of us in a 3-bed place. And they provide cots.

lulumama · 03/10/2008 14:03

i did not use the word scummy

i said it was fraud

i think if you ask a question about something that is morally dubious, people will 'stick the knife' in and have a strong opposing opinion

onepieceoflollipop · 03/10/2008 14:05

Egg you are right in one way, but if you had only had one 5 month old then the baby could have gone in with you and your ds in another room meaning you only had to pay for a 2 bed place.

So I understand what the OP is saying in that because her dc is over 2, in effect they are paying for another room. If he was under 2 then he could go in their room in the cot (any cot) and save them the cost of an extra room.

My earlier posts were a bit misleading I think.

milkybarsrus · 03/10/2008 14:10

'why ask if you don't want to know?'. Dont accuse me of not wanting to know LULU, i am merely saying I don't think it necessary 'to put the knife in' just to make you're point!maybe some people need to learn HOW to disagree to enable them to get a point accross. If you have read the thread, you will find that I have LISTENED AND LEARNED, but not to a single person who insults.

OP posts:
morningpaper · 03/10/2008 14:12

You'll need a pass for him to get into the swimming pool or anything, won't you? You can't hide him in the villa.

lulumama · 03/10/2008 14:12

fine ! jolly good ! alls well that ends well etc..
