HOW EASY WOULD IT BE TO SNEAK A 2 YR OLD INTO CENTERPARCS?

milkybarsrus · 03/10/2008 12:39

I am just wondering if there is a slight possibility that I could sneak my 2.7 yr old into centerparcs to save on having to hire a 4 bed as its so much more money? Grandparents are coming to in a differant car so its possible to split the kids up on arrival . Is this a clever idea or will I be shot at dawn and be escorted shame faced off the elite center parcs premises? worth the risk or not? have you actually done it? any tips will be gratefully received. p.s toddler to sleep in a travel cot anyway, whether we got a 4 bed or 3 bed!

they check all details as you come in - the 2 yr old thing is a pain, but can you imagine the embarassment!

TsarChasm · 03/10/2008 12:43

My children can never wait to put everyone in the picture no matter what it is I'm trying to hide

Katisha · 03/10/2008 12:44

WHy don't you just ring them and ask if you can have an extra child in a 3 bed place if they don't need a bed? Is it priced by number of people or by type of accomodation?

onepieceoflollipop · 03/10/2008 12:44

Theoretically you could probably "sneak" him in but only if he is invisible to the checking in staff - i.e in the boot. I am not proposing you do this btw. Also if you do sneak him in, you have a problem with insurance (i.e. their liability insurance if there is a fire or whatever, unlikely I know, but still)

Would he not be free anyway if you are in a 4 bed and you identify him as needing a cot?
I am puzzled as to why a child in a cot is being charged more.

lulumama · 03/10/2008 12:46

why do people think it is ok to basically defraud a business?? if he is going in a travel cot, hire a smaller place.

PrimulaVeris · 03/10/2008 12:50

It's fraud actually. Also insurance - villas (or indeed holiday cottages) only allowed to accommodate specific number of people.

When you pull up at Arrivals Lodge they now usually check the personnel in the car against their master list.

onepieceoflollipop · 03/10/2008 12:50

We have never been charged for taking a baby or young child in a travel cot and have been to C Parcs many times.

The only exception (afaik) is some of the 1 bed apartments have no space for a travel cot. (but you are not in that position)

I am a bit by your post tbh. C Parcs charge per villa not per person and that is clear in all their brochures etc.

milkybars is it not you doing the booking? Perhaps if it is the gps/your dp they are not clear that actually your child isn't costing more anyway.

Agree with lulumama also.

normansmum · 03/10/2008 12:51

are they big for age? any possibility you could lie about age i.e. under 2. not sure you pay for infants. and only pay extra for cot if you hire it off them.

i was about to post similar, mutt

there is a thread in active convos about diddling a car insurance company

that is stealing as is this

what is wrong with people !

onepieceoflollipop · 03/10/2008 12:58

normansnum have you ever been to C Parcs?

There is no charge for cots - they are standard in all villas. Also as I mentioned in earlier post one pays per villa not per person. The only time you hire a cot afaik is if you have more than one child requiring a cot.

Perhaps the OP will come back later after he/she has had opportunity to read all the replies and the advice kindly given.

onepieceoflollipop · 03/10/2008 13:00

lulu that thread is badly worded (car seat one). OP is actually proposing to ignore her car insurance company's recommendation that the seats need to be replaced. I have given her my best advice.

Sorry for hijack.

nailpolish · 03/10/2008 13:05

isnt 2.7yrs a bit big for a travel cot?
my dds slept in a normal single bed from 18 mths old

lulumama · 03/10/2008 13:07

thanks onepiece.. just read the title you see sorry about taht

slayerette · 03/10/2008 13:11

Agree with nailpolish - you must have a GIANT travel cot!

milkybarsrus · 03/10/2008 13:28

A Word to mutt. Get off your high horse and choose your words wisely......It is NOT a scummy thing to do, it has not been done yet either!
A Word to lulu. there is no comparison with cheating an insurance company so lets try and keep things in perspective shall we? I am not talking about a 15year old hulking great boy but a 2 1/2yr old, who for your information is small for his age and STILL sleeps in a cot, and in a TRAVEL COT when we are away.

tissy · 03/10/2008 13:32

I have no problem with comparing cheating a leisure company with cheating an insurance company, they're both cheating

If you cheat an insurance company, premiums go up, and if you cheat a leisure company, prices go up.

I have never been to Centre parcs, but if they charge for 2 year olds, then you should be paying for him. If they don't then you will be fine in a 3 bed chalet

Tissy are you an expert in leisure companies? How on earth do you presume that prices would go up at centerparcs?

baffledmum · 03/10/2008 13:38

Hi

CP charge for all children aged 2 and over, regardless of whether they are in a cot or a bed. I think it's kind of mean of them tbh as we could've taken along a grandparent to help out but now have a 2 bedroomed place, even though our 2 year could have come in with us and the 4 year old in with her gran.

I found this out as I called to make appropriate arrangements for registering us all and was quoted back their Ts and Cs.

fruitful · 03/10/2008 13:39

Center Parcs charge by the villa, not by the number of people in it. You are not allowed to have more people in a villa than the number of beds, with the exception of children under 2.

So 4 adults plus a 23mo can stay in a 4-bed villa, paying the price for a 4-bed villa. But 4 adults plus a 25mo have to stay in a 6-bed villa, paying the price for a 6-bed villa.

That's the rules.

When you check-in they will look at the list and look at the people in the car. They aren't going to be asking for birth certificates though.

milkybarsrus · 03/10/2008 13:39

MUTT I love it! people like you are SOOOOO EASY to wind up. have a good day trotting past all the low lifes. p.s your not my mother are you? its only old crinklies that call each other 'love' in that telling off tone!

OP posts:
Marina · 03/10/2008 13:40

You won't be able to book him in to any activities.
If he is injured in the playground and you want to sue them, I'm sure you will, you will have no case because he wasn't registered as a guest on what is private property.
You will be making the rest of your children party to fraud and deceit.
I am baffled as to why you have to do this for him. They don't charge for children this age, surely? And supply their own travel cots if you are not bringing yours.

tissy · 03/10/2008 13:40

You used the word "sneak" presumably if it was accepted and a normal thing to do, you wouldn't have to sneak him in, but drive up and announce, "I'm not paying for this one, OK?"

It seems as if you are trying to avoid paying for him.

On an airline you would still have to pay for a seat for a 2 year old, no matter how small he is. How is this different?

Marina · 03/10/2008 13:41

x-posted. Still not worth the potential aggro although I don't think you're that bothered by what anyone else thinks
