DH has stayed at the Thistle on business. It is very dull.

Hi what sort of hotel are you after? Theres load as it is by haydock park racecourse - there's a Posthouse there. Or the Thistle, and premier inn type places. or are you after a non-chain place?

Thanks for your replies - I tried the Thistle but booked up. The Holiday Inn very expensive. Luckily found another hotel, so fingers crossed it is ok!

What is it called?

There is a travel lodge which are usually cheap and cheerful, and the encore too. I've no idea how pricey it is though, its fairly newly built.
