Lake District, adventure?

Would like to take the children to the lake District and do some sailing/canoeing. Is it possible to organise on the spot? Have seen a package with Activities Abroad, but do't want all the mountain walking or biking, jus tht watersports. Does nyone have any advice? many thnaks

I'm fairly sure there is a place on the road between Ambleside and Windermere but I can't remember what it's called. The local tourist info offices should have pleanty of information.

Also available on Derwentwater if you are in the Keswick area. We used these people a few years ago for a day's taster course of sailing and kayaking - you will go over to one of the islands which is fun.
