Could anyone recommend a hotel or holiday accommodation with really good sea views around this area please?

My DH is terminally ill and he'd like to see the sea and it's about our nearest coast line.

It's near me and my favourite coast which I know well.
I can't recommend Bridlington because I don't like it much, but have stayed in lots of places in Filey and Scarborough with sea views.
I've stayed in several apartments in Filey managed by 5Leys. If you want to have a great sea view and hear the sea (which I love) look for one on the street called The Beach.
If you want a hotel there's White Lodge which has good views if you pay for a sea view but is on top of the cliff.

My favourite sea front place in Scarborough is The Sands. A little expensive but amazing views and very nice apartments, right on the beach. It's on the North bay so near lovely walks and Peasholm Park.

Scarborough South Bay - the Crown Spa
Scarborough North Bay - the Clifton
Nearer town - the Bike & Boot (view of South Bay and coast) or the Grand (but it has a mixed reputation)

You'll have to stipulate a sea view room in each one.

Thank you

Could you travel a bit and go to the Spa Hotel at saltburn?
One of my favourite places with amazing seaviews

Notover13 · 19/10/2026 20:13

I have looked at that hotel!

The Weston, The Crown Spa and The Bike and Boot are all lovely with good food and as another poster said the sands apartments are right on the seafront and nice. The Grand is awful and has a terrible reputation.

If you want tranquillity and amazing views then Grand Villa Heights at Ravenscar (changed its name last year). https://grand-villa-heights.com/explore/

You could also have a look at the area around Flamborough Head, which is between the two. I haven’t stayed in a hotel there personally but the scenery is lovely if being further away from walkable amenities isn’t a problem.

Edited because I misunderstood your post and thought you needed a rail line initially. The Hotel Victoria in Robin Hood's Bay is lovely, with stunning views. The only thing is, if your husband isn't very mobile he might struggle to get from the hotel down to the village, but the view is incredible.

I second the recommendation for Filey.

My elder DD is blind and we support a charity called Look UK. They own a really nice apartment in Scarborough on the North Bay side. The flat is rented out to non-VI people. It’s on the ground floor, has easy on-street parking and is so close to the promenade. As a family, we love Scarborough as there is so much to do. There is so much to do all along that coast. I’m sorry for what your family is going through.

Cherry tree guest house in Bridlington. I know the owners. They featured on 4 in a bed not so long ago. It’s close to the town centre and also the beach and harbour. The reviews on trip advisor are outstanding too

There are some newly renovated sea view apartments in Scarborough called Saltwater Apartments that look amazing.
So sorry to hear that your DH is poorly and hope you find somewhere to have a lovely seaside break .

I said up thread I couldn't recommend Bridlington because I don't like it but we did have a pleasant stay at the Seacourt hotel which is right on the sea front at the edge of town so away from the town centre which is a bit grotty.

If going to Scarborough you should be aware that the funicular at the spa end is closed indefinitely. If you stay at the hotels on the esplanade cliff you'd need a car to get down to the sea front as it's a challenging walk if you're not well.

Hoping to reopen the Cliff Lift soon. There's nothing wrong with it that couldn't have waited till the usual January/February maintenance. Just some jobsworth at the the council new to the role and throwing his weight around.

Bridlington is my home town. What I will say is Brid is flat whereas Scarborough is quite hilly so if mobility is an issue then I’d say Bridlington is your safer bet. Ok our town centre isn’t amazing but then again neither is Scarborough town centre. However we have a beautiful place called sewerby park and 2 lovely beaches. The spa theatre is nice for a drink and a bite to eat whilst overlooking the sea
