Lake District walk please!

Planning to come to the Lakes from Yorkshire for the day so somewhere accessible from there. 3 adults, all capable of walking about 8 miles. I know it will be busy and happy to avoid main towns.

How about High Street - it isn't as well known so won't be too busy and it's on the east side. Something like this circular walk - https://share.google/RVoL4kivZdtLoNpwf

Do you want an ascent or a more even gradient? 8 miles feels very different when uphill!

Big fell or mid-height, or mostly flat and level?

High Street is a good bet for a Big Fell - as would Blencathra, but parking could be a problem and don't attempt the Sharp Edge route unless all are very experienced scramblers with a head for heights. Luckily there are many great routes up and down.

Mid height lovely walk - Gowbarrow, the loop that takes in Aira Force waterfall - where you can also park (NT)

Flat and level; (mostly) Park in Glenridding, take the steamer to Howtown (best to book, now it is the school hols) , follow the Ullswater Way back round the lake.

These are all relatively close to the M6 turn off at Penrith so not negotiating past Keswick or Ambleside etc.

Coffin walk from Grasmere down into Ambleside.

I was going to suggest this.

Also get a round trip ferry ticket for lake Windermere , get the ferry from Waterhead to the west shore, walk down and catch the car ferry back to Bowness on Windermere. You can get something to eat and drink there before catching the ferry back to Waterhead.

Kendal to Sizergh is about 4 miles through parkland, fields and woodland. There’s a nice tearoom at the castle, and plenty of parking in Kendal

Carvell’s is very satisfying

Buttermere circuit, Keswick/Derwentwater to Friars Crag and Lodore falls,Cat bells, Lingholmand Portinscale. Keswick to Threkeld along old railway route.
