What companies do you recommend for organised walking holidays for a solo traveller, early 40s?

I'm female, early 40s, solo traveller, and I'm looking for a walking holiday in this country, either the peak district, lake district, or Pembrokeshire are places I'm interested in.

I was looking at ramblers worldwide and hf holidays but a concern is the age range. I don't mind mixed age groups, but I wondered if some companies are all older people and if I would be the only person in my age range. Does anyone have any experience of these companies or other recommendations?

I don't want to go walking alone for various reasons such as safety in remote areas and also boredom, I'd rather be with a group.

If you were up for self-guided walking I would recommend Inntravel like a shot, however I don't think they do groups.

You might check out https://www.intrepidtravel.com/uk as they do group walking holidays and I think there are some in the UK. We have used this company for a group holiday. This wasn't actually a walking holiday, although there were at least a couple of days when we were on a guided hike. However, we were impressed with their organisation and standard of guide. Group size is limited to 12.

Really recommend HF holidays. They have several country houses all over the country. Mix of people some older and some younger. Very sociable and walks are graded so you can choose from 3 each day. I’ve done several and enjoyed them all.

I was looking at them but the photos online look to be all people in their 60s and 70s. Unless this doesn't reflect their clientele and its more mixed in reality. Their walks look good

You can call them and ask about demographics for a particular tour you're interested in, they told me in detail about ages and mix of men/women.

I see you've already looked at them before now I read more carefully.

I did my first HF holiday when I was in my 30s. It was an explorer-type holiday, which was more of a sightseeing holiday rather than long walks. After I booked it they phoned me to say everyone else in my group was 70+ and did I still want to go? I didn't mind (I was used to being with people several decades older than myself) and went anyway. Had a great time. They were all experienced HF-ers but were no longer comfortable doing the long walks so had 'downgraded' to the explorer option instead.

The thing to bear in mind is that even if most of your fellow HR holiday-makers are 60+, they are people who are fit enough to be doing 10-miles walks for 5 days in a row, and have probably been walking long distances for decades. They might appear old on the outside but they're bloody fit on the inside.

I've been on a trip with adventure yogi before which involves two yoga classes a day and hiking. That's more of a mixed age group, however I felt it was a bit much yoga indoors for me and I'd rather be outdoors sight seeing
