Weirdly specific question - how likely am I to be able to get a taxi from St Erth train station to St Ives without booking one?

Just that really.

Considering coming on the train from Norfolk and wondering if I can just cut out the last train change to St Ives and get a taxi from St Erth instead to an Air bnb. 🤔 I know you can find many taxis just waiting to go at many train stations but where we live in Norfolk if you don’t book a week in advance you have no hope! Just brainstorming. Obviously I could book one if I know that’s going to be the case.

🤔😊

I’ve only been once, on a fairly busy Saturday in august and i didn’t see any taxis just hanging about outside the train station. No idea how quick they’d come if you ring for one.

depending what time of day you arrive you do know it might be quicker to catch the train? Traffic into st Ives can be a nightmare though I appreciate a taxi will take you to the door.

Not very likely. I go there every year. There's a taxi company called Ace taxis based in St Ives that I usually book.

Thank you for your very helpful replies. I will make a note of the taxi recommendation.

Also - the train from at Erth to st ives is the best bit and it will probably be much quicker than driving. Roads are very busy at the moment.

How far is your air b and b from st ives station?

Its a beautiful journey! But i get it if you will only need a taxi anyway when you get to SI.

I hope the company is still in business. I will check with my friend in St Ives.

I second the poster saying St Erth to St Ives is the best bit! It's stunning.
No chance of a taxi at St Erth I should think and no toilets!

St erth to St Ives is one of the most beautiful train journeys in Britain OP. It may also be quicker due to traffic.

Definitely. We did it last year and the scenery was breathtaking.

It is a very scenic train ride. There are bus stops at St Erth Station, the buses stop in Lelant and Carbis Bay if that gives you more options for accommodation.

Definitely stick with the train. I hate trains but this one is unbelievable. Sit at the window on the far side!
