Airbnb new host

I've just booked an Airbnb house at a very good price well situated. Stupidly I didn't check reviews as was so keen to book (it's major event that's very expensive to stay near usually).
There's no reviews and says new host. I hope it isn't a scam?
There's some bookings before ours so hopefully I'll see reviews before we go. We can cancel just before we stay.
I'll be gutted though if it is a scam.

Has anyone experienced this?

Airbnb host here - it someone’s house or a commercial rental property?

I think it’s unlikely to be a scam. The real risk is that it’s not just that good. If there’s a big event on nearby and accommodation is at a premium then you can expect new hosts to enter the market in the hope of making a quick buck. Some of those won’t much care about the quality of their offer. But most of them probably will. An unreviewed property is always a risk but I really wouldn’t be too concerned about it being a scam.

As it’s a commercial let rather than a private host, can you see if they have any other properties? That would be your best indicator of what to expect.

I have stayed in new Airbnb's. I think as they are new the host is unsure about where to set the price. Once they start building up reviews the price will likely go up. Also they may not be aware of the event that is on so haven't priced that in, especially as many hosts may not live in the area. Just be happy to get a bargain price!

Have you tried looking for it on other platform? Cottages or Sykes or whatever? Sometimes they do that and then add air bnb - I got a great place in wales last month that had no reviews but I found it on another platform with a load of 5* reviews

Thanks everyone. Hopefully it'll be ok? It isn't until later in the year.
As long as it's clean we won't be bothered tbh.

I've just searched for it and it sold last August. No other platforms.

Very unlikely to be a scam - air bnb host here, they make you send specific live videos of the house in order for it to be verified. If there are any issues then air bnb are very responsive to guests and will immediately find you something or refund you - the host gets paid after the guest checks in successfully - so they wont earn any money if someone flags it as a scam upon check in, theres no benefit to scam house set up on air bnb. Rather than a scam, it's more just you don't know any niggles or any things guests spot during stays and mention in reviews (little stuff like a soft mattress or not enough pans). I'd keep an eye on reviews popping up to spot any small issues or things that don't work for you, so you can bring anything you need with you or prepare.

Thanks. We're pretty easy going to be honest.
I only ever stayed in one airbnb that wasn't so good. All the others have been good to fab.

It's a very good platform for guests, they keep standards high, for example if reviews fall below something like 4.5 or 4.6 they threaten to remove you! They're quite hard to host with unless you're good at it!

I didn't know that.
