Want to take my mum to York for a weekend. I’ve heard parking is an expensive nightmare! Any central hotel recommendations with parking, or if hotel has no parking, any parking recommendations?
thank you!

I’ve stayed at the Churchill hotel which is a few minutes walk from the walls. The parking is an additional cost but it was very easy.

Use your parking space website I used it as Christmas when I travelled from York station far cheaper than parking at station , we parked on a private driveway for the weekend . The multi storey on Tanner row is around £25 per night and we parked there next door to Malmaison and close to the Milner and the Grand

Malmaison. Underground car park

We stayed at The Grand and parked in a multi-storey NCP car park a 2 minute walk away.

Novotel is nice, has parking and is a 5 minute walk to the centre. It also has a pool.

If you don’t mind a five minute drive to the designer outlet park and ride there’s Hazlewood Castle and another Travelodge on the A19. B and Bs plus the Pavillion Hotel on Fulford Road, also on the Park and Ride route, five mins from town.

@chillyputsomesockson We had a few days in York last November and we stayed at The Minster Hotel on Bootham. It is a short walk from Bootham Bar and maybe a ten minute walk from the Minster, so really accessible for the city centre.

It also has private secure parking for residents at the back of the hotel.

If you’re looking for a central hotel, I'd suggest having a look at The principal York – it’s a lovely spot and has parking, which is a bonus! If that’s a bit out of your budget, you could also try Ibis York centre, which is fairly close to the city centre and not too expensive.
For parking, you might want to consider using a park and ride service if your hotel doesn’t have parking. They’re super convenient and take you straight into the heart of York without the stress of finding a spot.

Take the train . . .

Thanks everyone. Can you leave cars overnight at the park and ride at MacArthur Glen outlet?

No
You can’t park overnight in any of the park and rides.

The Novotel on Fishergate has parking. I think it’s free, but if it’s not, it’s not overly pricey either. It’s not as fancy as some of the hotels mentioned above, but perfectly nice and 5-10 mins walk into the city centre. It also has a pool.

If it’s a posh hotel you’re after this won’t suit but last year we stayed at a pub on Hull Road which was a ten min walk into town along Fossgate through the bar walls. It had free parking. It was fine, clean and large and the food was nice https://roseandcrownyork.com/rooms/

Can second the minster hotel, it's lovely and so is the owner. Very close walk through the museum gardens to the center

The Milner is very nice and has twin rooms. I think it has a bit of parking but we went by train. Hotel du Vin is £15 a day first come first served and is very nice, highly recommend.

We stayed there recently. Very easy with onsite parking. Nice hotel too.

Hotel Indigo is central and has a reduced rate in a nearby carpark. Being York it’s a convoluted drive to the carpark but they have a map to help you find it, it’s easy once you’ve done it once and it’s a very quick walk back to the hotel.
The hotel itself is fabulous, I always look for an Indigo when I’m booking now.
