an hour i think? not much more. have you been to ed before? there's lots of nice things to do imo. don't know about staying there, though, i live not far so have only stayed in hotels when the occasion has called for being blootered.
there's a discovery centre thing too, can't remember what it's called. also the castle, i really love the castle. if you're coming in aug then the fest will be on so you could see some shows.

that place looks good mutt but v expensive to stay really as we'd need 2 bedrooms. We are trying to go July. Are there no centre parc type places there at all?

The flight time will be just under an hour but they will probably show it as being 1.5 hours as it can take a while to get a slot out of a London Airport.

As for a Centre Parcs type place, sorry no you will be in the city. Have you thought about travelodge or travelinn if you need something a bit cheaper. There are several within walking distance of Princes Street (main area of Edinburgh)

Loads and loads and loads to do and see in Edinburgh. At this late stage though you'd struggle to get accommodation at resonable prices in the City because of the festival in August.

There is a hotel right at the Zoo if that's where you want to be and it is a Holiday Inn on Corstorphine Road.

Have a look at www.visitscotland.co.uk and search through what's on in the city.
