I know - asking for the moon- but any recs for affordable but good places to eat in Oxford? Family of 4, 17 and 23 yr old, moderately adventurous.

Franco Manco sourdough pizzas George Street

There’s a good ramen place on the high street next to Magdalen college.

Jericho Cafe is great for children and adults. Agree with the Taste Tibet recommendation too. And lots of lovely places in the Covered Market. Definitely take a wander through there

I came to recommend Taste Tibet!😂

Or Lula’s - either the one in the Covered Market or the one near the train station.

Thanks very much - I really want to go to all of those - they look great!
Any other ideas (in case of hesitancy from my 17 yr old, who is just a little less adventurous than the rest)?

Unadventurous teens love Franco Manca!
There's a Cote down George Street. Some Cotes are doing a very good January deal on set menus.

I was going to suggest Zataar Bake up Cowley Road but it's a bit out of the way and not for the unadventurous. Best falafels ever, Middle Eastern style pizzas and humous dips. Dirt cheap and very atmospheric with low tables and cushions.

Pretty much all the best / best value places are on Cowley Road. Magdalen Road for coffee shops and Taste Tibet.

Less adventurous - Mowgli at the top of the Westgate Shopping Centre (almost the only shopping mall I can tolerate.)

Combine with cocktails (some non-alcoholic) at The Alchemist, or a film at the Curzon cinema - all on the same top floor, with excellent views in all directions.

Indian Restaurant Westgate (nr High Street), Oxford

Indulge in Indian street food comforts at Mowgli Oxford, Westgate Shopping Centre. Perfect for families or special occasions. Book Now.

Bella Italia (George Street, next to the theatre) currently has a £5 pasta offer on until next Thursday, valid every day - you just need to go online and get a code.

Koto Walton Street.

There’s a tapas restaurant on Little Clarendon Street, Al Aandalus. Very cosy and good food.

SumUp · 24/01/2026 18:07

Three thousand restaurant in then city centre is authentic and affordable. Around £12 for an extremely filling bowl of Langzhou beef noodles.
