UK beach holiday

I'm looking for some recommendations for any good accommodation almost directly on the beach. We don't want to have to drive to one
We usually go to Cornwall but were hoping for somewhere different.
We don't mind if it's a holiday park as we'll have a 2.5 year old, equally we're just as happy in a house. TIA

There's a little caravan park right by Oxwich bay in South Wales. Gorgeous beach and much quieter than Cornish beaches.

Forgottenmyphone · 04/10/2025 09:27

Waxham Sands in Norfolk

OutingHobbyWife · 04/10/2025 10:05

Northumberland - Bamburgh, Seahouses, Embleton, Low Newton all have great beaches. Sea can be a bit nippy though!

Matildahoney · 04/10/2025 10:49

@Ciderapplevinegar the beach we go to in Cornwall is very quiet! It's lovely, we just didn't fancy the 5 hour drive.
@Forgottenmyphone we went to Norfolk in Sept!

I should also add we don't like Weymouth!

@OutingHobbyWife think it may be too far but will have a look

Where are you OP? There are a lot of places 5 hours to Cornwall! And what is your maximum travel time?

FeelinTwentySixPointTwo · 04/10/2025 10:53

Anglesey. Beaches are just as beautiful as Cornwall but much quieter and far less frenetic. Also far far better value for money. Look around Red Wharf Bay, Treaddur Bay, Moelfre, Lligwy, Benllech.. there are so many gorgeous places to choose from.

St David’s Holiday Park, Red Wharf Bay on Anglesey. Beautiful private beach, you can also walk to larger public beach when the tide is out. Loads to do with a toddler on Anglesey - pili palas nature world, sea zoo, foel farm park,

OutingHobbyWife · 04/10/2025 10:59

@Matildahoney fair. I wouldn't want to do a long journey with a toddler either!
Pembrokeshire's lovely too.

Somerset isnt so far down and has some lovely areas: Lympstone, Charmouth, Lyme Regis, Beer, Watchet, Clevedon… I agree though, not Weymouth 😕

Matildahoney · 06/10/2025 15:18

@moreveganeis we're in Southampton.

Purbeck is lovely and not so far from you. Beautiful sandy beaches at Shell beach and Studland. Interesting rock pools and dinosaurs at Kimmerage. There’s the steam railway at Swanage too. Lots to do with little ones. I’m sorry I didn’t have any accommodation recommendations as we always stay with family - lucky us

We actually stayed in lulworth in the summer, 10 mins walk from the beach. Studland was lovely.

Swanage would be fab with a 2 year old. She'd also enjoy getting steam train to Corfe Castle.

The National Trust rent the cottages near this pub out
The Ty Coch inn, good beer and food, great beach.

Channel Islands aren’t that far from OP, Jersey has fabulous beaches with many hotels literally on top of them, not sure it would always be seen as a family holiday though

OutingHobbyWife · 16/10/2025 17:32

Have you been across the water @Matildahoney if you're in Southampton? Some lovely beaches on the Isle of Wight.

MaryToft · 16/10/2025 17:53

We stayed in a static caravan right on the beach in Easter one year. It is a shingle beach. So some might consider it noisy but I slept brilliantly that week!
Easy to walk along the coast to other beaches from here but we did also drive to Lyme Regis and Charmouth.
Other than the pool we didn't really use the park facilities but what we saw was well kept.

I had a boyfriend over there for a while! We want to take DS when he's a little older.
