Does my perfect uk hotel exist?

I’m looking to book a few days away for me and my partner, we are both into the gym and swimming so would love to go somewhere with a really good gym and pool so we can work out and swim at leisure in between days out and about. The thing is we have been stung before when we have paid a lot of money for a luxury hotel only to find their gyms and pool are open to public by membership so there was classes going on in pool and a lot of people squeezed into the gym, it felt just as busy as the facilities we use at home, I don’t mind where in the uk but do hotels exist with good gym and swim options (25m pool) that are for residents of the hotel only? Can anyone recommend one?? I know it’s niche and I’m pretty much looking for a quiet David Lloyd with rooms 😂

Lots of the ‘village’ hotels have decent gyms and pool in them. Lots do let the public in but term time midweek you should have the place to yourself.

Chewton Glen in Hampshire? Beautiful hotel.

I like Village Hotels. They are cheap and cheerful and feel ‘fun’ in comparison to a lot of dull, expensive spa hotels.

Carden Park in Cheshire? They have a super gym and pool.

I would second Village hotels. Their pools and gyms are geared up for their members, and are, usually of good quality for this purpose and they are reasonably priced - I would check this before you go though - ours is brilliant, with a decent length swimming pool for proper swimming. I have been to others where the pool is OK, but smaller. They have an aqua class some days but it is easy to avoid. The rooms are a bit hit and miss, been in some good ones, been in some small ones with no aircon. When you book, make sure you have access. x

Ribby Hall Village near Kirkham. Lots of different accommodation options, health club with a 25m adults only pool. The health club does sell memberships to the public, but like other places, it shouldn’t be packed midweek daytime.

They also have a spa hotel and thermal spa.
