Breakfast stops on A1M, at around Thirsk/Dishforth exits, must be open early, have parking, very little walking, nice scenery

Need to break a journey, at around about Dishforth (ish), could be earlier or could be a bit later but not much, want to stop around about there, dont want to come too far off A1

Would prefer a country home/gardens/lake type thing/local park.

Have a look at the Maple park cafe - gets good reviews but not very informative re opening times. They have an email address on their Facebook page though.

Fountains Abbey?

fridaynightbeers · 11/07/2025 17:59

Trip advisor suggests 9am opening which may not be early enough…

soupyspoon · 11/07/2025 21:05

Thank you, that Maple Park would be good but their facebook page doesnt state when they're open tomorrow

Very annoying, I havent got time to be risking a stop off for a place not open, why on earth dont businesses have proper websites that they keep up to date regularly!

Fountains Abbey?

Looks amazing but I think that is a bit too far off route

Having looked at the map a bit more I think Boroughbridge might be the one, the highstreet has a number of cafes which open at 9 which is about right and we could park in the high street (I hope)

There is a large car park just off the high street.

Yolk Farm is another option. A minute off the motorway at Boroughbridge. Parking attached.

I think we might have stayed in Easingwold some years ago, lovely place but too far from A1

Came to suggest Yolk Farm too, it's very handy and the food is nice. Their website is about 300% flashier than the actual place which is just a normal and pleasant farm shop and cafe.

I was joking with OH earlier in the week that I nearly picked this place as a stop off on the way up here, he hates eggs, hates the mention of them, sight of them, the thought of eating them, smelling them etc etc

I love em!

Anyway we didnt stop there for obvious reasons!

Ripon also has lots of options. A very quick drive from the A1.
Easy parking in the market square. Short walk to cafes. Oliver’s Pantry is fab, with an outdoor space. Opens at 8.30am.

Also parking near St. Wilfred’s school would give you a short walk to the Cafe in the Park, open at 9.00 am Saturday
