Things to do in Edinburgh this week-end

We're going to Edinburgh on sunday(25th May)-tuesday. Can anyone recommend activities, places to eat, sights to see with children aged 3,6 and 8?

I read somewhere that there's a Children's Festival held there in the last week of May. Is that right?

The DS's will love that Yorkshire, and I think we're staying on the Royal Mile.
