First passport for child

Hi I am applying for my child’s first passport, the passport office has asked for my mums birth certificate. I have asked my mum for it and she says she only has the short one and was the only one she was ever given as she didn’t think they did the big one years ago , will this be okay ? I have had to send mine and my husbands birth certificates as well. I’m hoping this will be enough , thanks

Do you have a British passport?
If so, all that other stuff isn't required so not sure why they've asked for it

You can get one from the registry office. How old is your mum as long form and short form were what I got in the 70’s when I was born, husband also has both of his.

Yes I do it’s not in date we are applying for renewal. Is that still okay?

She was born in 1967, maybe her mum never gave her the full one 🤔

You dont need it if you have a British passport yourself

If you are renewing yours at the same time then I'd put the current passport number on your child's application and send them all to the same address with all application references on the envelope.
