Does anyone know where I can find a talking tree?

In a moment of madness, I promised my 3 year old that I could find her a “tree with a mouth that talks”. Cue a week of searching and I can’t find a single one in the northwest.

I used to see them in various places as a kid and - whilst they were frankly often pretty creepy - I didn’t think it would be this difficult… Does anyone have any ideas? Am happy to travel! Thank you so much in advance.

There’s one on eBay for 50 quid…
It looks frankly terrifying, are you sure you want to give it to a three year old?? 😁

I think there may have been one at Stockeld Park

There was one at King Arthur’s Labyrinth in Snowdonia when we visited a few years ago!

Mothercare in Bromley 30 years ago. You'll just need a time machine.

I think there might be one at The Forbidden Corner in North Yorkshire.

Yes, Stockeld Park in Spofforth, North Yorkshire, UK, does feature an animatronic talking tree as part of its attractions! Known simply as "The Talking Tree," it’s a highlight for visitors, especially families exploring the park’s adventure offerings. Stockeld Park is a family-oriented adventure park that transforms seasonally—think enchanted forests in winter, outdoor play in summer—and this animatronic tree fits right into its whimsical, interactive vibe.
Photos and reviews on Tripadvisor from visitors show it’s a real, physical feature: a tree with animated elements that "talks," likely through pre-recorded audio synced with movements, delighting kids and adding to the park’s magical atmosphere. It’s not just a rumor or a one-off—multiple candid images (e.g., from 2018 and earlier) and mentions confirm its presence over the years, tied to the park’s woodland trails or seasonal events like the Christmas Adventure. Given Stockeld’s reputation for elaborate setups (ice rinks, mazes, themed trails), an animatronic talking tree aligns perfectly with their style.
As of today, April 4, 2025, there’s no indication it’s been removed. The park’s website doesn’t list every detail, but their focus on immersive experiences and past visitor accounts suggest it’s still around, likely in the Enchanted Forest area. If you’re planning a visit, it’d be worth checking their current season lineup—spring might lean more toward outdoor play, but the tree’s a staple that could pop up anytime.
So, to answer directly: Yes, Stockeld Park has an animatronic talking tree, and it’s a charming, quirky part of the experience! Want more details about the park or what else to expect there?
Thanks GROK!

Thank you so much everyone, especially for the Stockeld Park suggestions as it’s the most local. Love the others too - I may start planning all future trips around talking trees, these look great… I am massively grateful! I will give the Ebay options a miss but I had a look and that amused/freaked me out enormously 😂

This memory could be the basis for all my current problems actually… 😂

I hated that tree! I used to try to sidle in as near the edge of the door as possible so I didn't set it off. I don't think I ever managed it, but it was a waste of time anyway as dozens of other people would set it off while I was inside. Grin
