York hotel recommendations

Hi everyone

I am planning to take my two kids (11 & 8) to York during Easter holidays. Any recommendations for hotels with parking and family rooms?

I know parking is tough in York so happy to stay outside a bit and taxi/bus into the centre.

Pool would be great but not essential. Not breaking the bank is essential!!

Thanks Smile

I think the Novotel has family rooms, it has a pool and parking.

We stayed at The Minster Hotel, which is five minutes walk from the Minster on the outside of the wall. It was clean, comfortable, good value and included breakfast. Had a carpark.

We stayed at the York North Premier Inn, it has a pub and car park on site, and was about 40 mins walk or a quick bus ride to the city centre.

We always stay in York central travelodge. It's 5mins walk from the center and has a 30% discount for parking in Q-Barbican car park for guests. I've always found it really easy to use. You book parking in advance but can take the car out whenever you like. Car park is about 5mins walk from the travelodge.

We stayed at the Moxy recently which was lovely. Very cool bedrooms with under bed lighting! We always just park at the train station and walk to wherever we are staying. It isn’t expensive and York is small.

We stayed in an Airbnb which I can always link. Free parking and a 5 minute walk into the centre and a fraction of the price of the hotels!

We stayed at Middletons
Parking and quick walk into the center

Also came to say YHA York. Lovely walk along the river into the city.

Look up Monkbar Mews. Lovely self catering apartments with parking, literally right next to the city gate. It was ideal.

Second vote for Middletons, it's a lovely hotel with family suites, parking and very close and short walk to the center

As a previous poster has said, York central travelodge is good with parking (not too expensive ) at Q parking round the corner. I've also started at the Travelodge at central York Layerthorpe. This has limited free parking but isn't too far out.

Delta Marriott was great. Have enjoyed the Ibis there too.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 01/02/2025 23:45

Novotel.
It has a pool and a car park, and family rooms.
The dc (2; 10 and 13 at the time) and I had a mini break there a couple of summers ago. Was about £250 for 2 nights with breakfast, swimming and parking.

It's an easy 5-10 min walk into the city centre.

This is brilliant! Thank you all so much. I have some research to do today!!
