CCTV & Decibel Monitors

I am just back from a trip with friends.

The living room had a decibel monitor which we were unaware of.

There was a group of 10 and decibel monitor was set to 80.

We are a group of normal , good people but the monitor alerted during a funny convesation with a few of us laughing loudly. (ie not consitiently at 80 decibels.....)

The room had cameras in it too with tape over them but definately powered on (tape was loose & the red light was on)

Can you seriously have CCTV in a living room in a home even if covered?

We paid almost £3000 for the weekend to stay and it felt like the Big Bro house getting phonecalls to be quiet at 9pm friday evening.

Genuinely.. we were not loud.

Left me feeling really uncomfy with the monitoring. Especially as we were unaware.

Just wondered for the next time I travel if I should expect this? Never happened before x

No
That’s intrusive and illegal
Especially the cctv as some cctv can listen in to your conversations as well
80db is not that loud either it’s similar to a hoover. So a few of you talking would be louder.

Without your permission cctv is illegal in rental / holiday accommodation. Even if it is turned off. Yours wasn’t even off as it had a light on.!!

hope you’ve put a negative comment on trip advisor and their website if they have one. If you booked through a third party you should make a complaint with them aswell.
I would make a formal complaint and point out the illegality of this.
Im amazed you didn’t whilst you were there and ask for it to be removed immediately

Thanks

They called us 3 times first night so we were trying not to ruin the whole weekend as it did dampen the mood.

One friend is taking it further and of course negative reviews x
