New Year's Day

Help! Looking for something to do for 4 adults, 1 teenager on New Year's Day.

It's my birthday and we usually host a family & friends house full to celebrate the start of a new year and my birthday too. However, this year I lost both my parents and I can't face doing the 'normal' thing without them this first year, especially as they lived with us for the last 3 years - I desperately want to not spend the day in the house this year.

Can anyone suggest a day out that could be fun and distracting? Any reasonable distance from the Midlands considered. We looked at a London show, but many go dark NYD and there's nothing that appeals. Too much walking is out of the question as we have a wheelchair user in our group.

Any suggestions gratefully received! Thank you Smile

Hire a canal boat for the day, go for a cruise and stop off at a pub for a nice lunch. We hired with this company from Springwood Haven but the company had other locations too https://booking.abcdayboathire.com/search-results
