Help finding the impossible accommodation!

4 adults wanting a cottage or house in the Lake District (Penrith area) - Me, DH, BIL and BIL’s partner. BIL and partner want to bring their dog which although I don’t like dogs, I think is quite reasonable considering the location etc.

Problem is DH is allergic to pet hair. I have suggested we could bring our own bedding (the main problem) and BIL and partner are happy to set some ground rules for the dog e.g., it wont go on the sofa, it wont go in our room.

DH thinks that they just shouldn’t bring the dog but I am more realistic that they are going to have a dog and if we want to maintain the good relationship we have with them we are going to have to compromise a bit otherwise it’s going to cause issues.

So - what I really really want is some kind of air BnB type accommodation but where there is more than one building or one bedroom is in an annexe or something.

Does it exist? Can anyone help?

I know we could stay in a hotel but we have done that every other year and we really want to make staying all together work as we all prefer house vibes to hotel vibes…and apart from the dog contention we are really close to them!

Milburn Grange should fit your bill.

if not contact Coniston and coopermines cottages they have a wide range

Would you consider two adjacent lodges?

MakeItRain26 · 28/09/2024 11:41

@Forgottenmyphone yes definitely!

There are several farms offering luxury lodges or cottages within a small complex. That way you each have your own space.

@LIZS that would be ideal - do you remember the name of any of them please?

Try Burns Farm near Keswick

Crake Valley lodges has a choice of pet-friendly and pet-free lodges, so you and your DH could stay in one of the pet-free ones.
